That is a great method. Thank you for sharing! I think this is about the 6th Studebaker engine I have had apart...this is the first one that didn't prime immediately. Happy to report that the oil pressure is excellent...now we just need to clean up a few things and get it back into the Weasel!  

...particularly for a Texas boy...although, as you know...humans are pretty adaptable. It has been single digits and negative to low teens for about 5 or 6 days...I walked out early last evening in 10F with a down vest and flannel shirt...not for long, but told my wife it wasn't too cold😜....she informed that my brain had frozen!  Hope you are well!

Thanks Jay!! I don't mind sharing the shop with the nuthatch except that he keeps pooping on my jeep.  Not a good look for him! Surprisingly pleasant in the shop with the Carharts and my little electric heater - supplemented with a bullet heater to bring things up a few degrees. Looking forward to a balmy 20F tomorrow! Heat wave - woooo hoo!😍 Best my friend!

HA!  This whole replace/validate/resuse thing is funny. I am really against the entire disposable society premise that we live in.  That said, time is valuable, so maybe that is the right metric? I know people who just pull engines from these vehicles and drop them off at the machine shop. $6k later they install a fully rebuilt engine. Betting the machine shop absolutely loves this type of customer. Seems wasteful to me....but then again, what do I know?Thanks buddy...happy to be back in the roll as well.

No sir!  Wait until I put these newfangled valve stem seals on the intakes....she is going to be the smoothest, no-oil-burning Champion 6 in the Western Hemisphere!  We did check all of the bearing clearances when we started the diagnostics...all basically new.... Thanks for the well wishes...kinda fighting shape...getting ready for the HUUUGE snowstorm this weekend....will probably be a wimper, but it is definitely going to be cold. Getting my ducks lined up so I can spend the snowstorm in the shop, working on motors!  Best!
