Sounds like a nice, organized approach. I am working hard on my mindset to reprogram the idea that time spent organizing stuff is time well spent....I mostly learn by doing....so tripping over stuff is slowly but surely convincing me!

Replied on Murph's Grill

Another shop philosopher! 😀  Do you sing in your shop too?Love this comment.  One explanation from a fellow traveler - "we restore these objects to be closer to the time period"....an interesting idea too.  At the root for me, all deeply satisfying.

Thank you for all of your support Jay - most appreciated!

Cheers!

I am reluctant to consider how many hours I spent fettling Murph's grill.  In the end though, the grill of a WW2 jeep is the most distinguishable characteristic and will get plenty of close looks.

I am pretty pleased with where it stands.  Of course the primer makes a few dents visible so there may be a little more, but we are getting close here.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hope y'all are all having a great Friday.  I am getting ready for a super busy weekend, finishing the rebuild of a T18 transfer case and hopefully making lots of progress on Murph.

If you are poking around on the site, you might notice that we increased the subscription price for NEW members only.  Existing subscribers are grandfathered!  We appreciate your continued support.

Our technology host increased our monthly costs for storage as we keep growing the library of past episodes.  All worth it in the end.

Cheers!

I did not forget your very generous offer Robert. I really appreciate that. This ended up being a really, really good deal based on our last conversation. I would appreciate the information on the differences. If they are minor enough, I will likely make the changes. I think I read that I could get a correct data plate too? All fun stuff. Again - always appreciate your comments and the support.

Attended the Redball Swap Meet and Show last weekend so did not get too much done in the shop.

But....I picked up a couple of really cool things for Murph, including a nice original glove box latch that cleaned up to new condition.  I also made a major score..... reveal on Thursday.

Quality problem my friend!

I have a couple of helmets. The 3M is called a Speedglas. It was my first good helmet. I broke the lens and then replaced it with an "upgraded" and larger viewing lens. I swear I am getting sunburned...bought the replacement lens off of Ebay from a supposed 3M dealer...wondering if I got duped. So I tried it again and my eyes hurt. The Miller is a cheaper model, but it works so I think I need to chuck the 3m. You can get into an inexpensive TIG now pretty easily.....or do what I do and get a used one so you can add to the project list :-) Hope all is well!

Thank you Howard .... and for being patient with the jeep deep dive. I am absolutely itching to get the T24 finished. I am going to rebuild the engine in October, plus I have a take-out that I need to see if I can get running to replace the engine in the M29 that is starting to knock - otherwise that one needs a rebuild too.
