That is a fantastic idea!  I have been contemplating getting a little vinyl cutter system for just these kinds of projects....

We will do something on plating, but not sure when.  You can get just about anything from these guys:  https://caswellplating.com/

They have excellent starter kits and tons of information.  Once you figure out what you want to do, you can do a deeper dive and get most of the component products for cheaper, but this is the place to start.

Phosphoric acid and manganese.  There is an excellent TM (will post the number) on Treatment of Ferrous Metals which has all the recipes and tons of information.  Knowledge is power!

Good eye Dave!  Indeed - they did detail the block.  It is on my "to do" list.....I kinda like the detail!

Some "cranking motors" have bearings, others have bronze bushings.  In this case, bushed on both sides - the back end has an oiler and the front end no access.  In general, bushings want oil - the manual says 30wt straight mineral oil. My thinking was to go ahead and grease (lightly) both sides.  I just used a "standard" lightweight grease.  The front side (by the bendix) will likely never get any attention because it is only accessible by removing the header of the engine and then an access plate - nearly impossible on the Weasel with the engine installed.  So, I greased it - not ideal because the grease dries over time and ultimately ends up causing wear but better than nothing!  The back end has an oil cup, so I will fill that with oil before installing the engine - it is kind of accessible with the engine installed (not easy).  We should be dropping a few drops of 30 wt in the oil cups on the distributor, generators and starters (where applicable) regularly!

Dropping the truth bomb Dana....🫢  Glad to hear your TUG is running well....always plenty to do on these machines to keep them up.  Cheers!

Thanks Scott - appreciate all the awesome work on the stencils and research!  I have grown kinda fond of that jeep at this point ;-)

I am definitely going to have a serious sit down with Dennis since he did disassemble that engine!😂  Thanks as always for your support. I think I am going to hide the comment from my bride...twice in one week she hears that she is doing great camera work....its coming!

Yes sir....it will move, although I am pretty sure the repro speedometer is off by a good amount.  It says 65!...but we have used a few apps and it is accurate at 35mph....at 50mph we are really doing 44/45....so I am guessing 65 indicated is probably around 55...still moving faster than feels comfortable, although as I said...the jeep feels stable.

Jay Turnbull The most successful people I know seem to take one of two forms:  high sensitivity/low threshold/tolerance for chaos vs an uncanny ability to ignore the blaze and "fly the airplane".  The later model makes for an unpredictable, exciting and often chaotic experience but can lead to success outside of the "envelope" if the test pilot survives the fire.  I think I am a little schizo....the two archetypes duking it out to see which style wins....🤔
