John Hedges Thanks for the comment John.100% on the brass drift. I forget I have them!As for thread chasers - I have never owned a set nor have I ever been in a shop that had a proper set. Your comment sent me down a rabbit hole....turns out they are not very common. I see a couple of different options out there so need to do more research. I totally agree that not removing material while repairing threads is the ideal outcome....will report on my findings in an upcoming episode.Good luck getting that transmission back together. Robert Holloway Holder We are going to talk about that a little more in the next video. Shift rail wear and poppet balls/springs, wear allowing end play on 2nd gear and/or wear on the cluster gear with excess end play. Once 2nd starts moving...it is hard for that poppet ball and spring to keep it in place.The cases are repairable and they are dated too...so you probably do want to keep the original. It can be fixed!

Dave Ostrander It did 🤨....part of the jeep. Do you have any pictures of a "fully equipped" JASCO? I found 294th markings, but it was early history and they are just driving a pretty stock jeep on a beach.I think I have a few pics with the reel installed - but it scratched the floor so I repainted and have not installed since!😂

John Schroeder Murph is marked for the 294th JASCO...Joint Assault Signal Company, joint USN/Army communications group tasked with establishing communications between Navy/Army in amphibious assaults. Huge challenge because everyone was working on different frequencies. The 294th was attached to the 5th Engineer Special Brigade: The 5th Engineer Special Brigade was a U.S. Army amphibious engineer unit active during World War II, redesignated from the 1119th Engineer Combat Group in November 1943 and tasked with clearing beach obstacles and building roads on Omaha Beach during the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. I wanted a "wade flag"...and wanted to honor Omaha....and Murph was Signal Corps because there are RL-31 reel brackets in the back.....so....294th JASCO fit the bill well.
