You have now inspired me to deliberately shoot my M1 while standing in very close proximity to my jeep. Those little dinks in my paint job and metal I can then safely say came from the ejected enbloc of a Garand! Another great video!

Our 1943 GPW jeep never ever truly ran right. You know what I mean. It was fun, and it would move, but it all just felt like "meh" in the performance. It didn't make sense that all the accounts of the jeep handling like a sports car and being really zippy and...barking the tires in second gear... our jeep never did that. It always idled like crap, and the problem got worse and worse.

Last year we took the head off and started to investigate. We never replaced the valve guides, and every one of them was worn out. Some of the exhaust guides had holes worn right through the sides. We replaced those, and we cut our own valve seats. More importantly, I had found a Sun Tuneup Tester from a flea market for 20 bucks, and it came with all the papers and even had some standards sheets for all the makes and models of 1950s cars!! We then set the dwell properly on the distributor.

Our jeep will let you shift into top gear now, going UPHILL. It's a rocket. Gobs of power. Great video!!!

This makes me unbelievably happy. Thank you for leaving nothing out, and that usually it's the simplest things that cause the hiccups. So many memories I have of me and my dad getting engines to pop off for the first time...

These vehicles aren't complex, once everything is set up within reason, they'll run all day. Try that with a Cybertruck...

Commented on How To Parkerize

Hey! Looks amazing!! I need to do this to my G503 carb bottom. It's going to need a full rebuild, and I'm wondering...did you take out those brass plugs and replace them BEFORE you put it in the parkerizing solution? Or did you leave the originals in place and replace them after parkerizing?
