Based on several requests, I am going to be offering a 2 day welding & tin knocking class on Friday & Saturday September 29/30 at the shop.  The class will be limited to 4-5 participants - $350 per person.

The main focus will be learning to weld in a patch panel, hiding seams and managing the inevitable distortion from welding sheet steel.

We are going to use the MIG welder as well as the oxy-acetylene torch.  We may add TIG depending on student skill levels and desires.

We will discuss the proper use of the pneumatic and electric angle grinders and the various media available for this work.

Finally, we are going to manage panel distortion with planning, the torch, the hammer and dolly and the shrinking disc.

Students will need to bring their own PPE (minimum gloves, welding helmet, eyes and hearing protection).

There is local lodging available within 20 minutes of the shop.  We will provide lunch.

If you are interested, kindly send me an email to sales@portrayal.com by Wednesday 9/20.

I am opening this up to subscribers first and then will broadcast this more broadly starting Thursday.

Looking forward to seeing some of you!

Tub, engine, transmission and chassis are together again.  This is a little like the Hell Freezes Over Tour....

Everything fits and other than a little sanding...and maybe a little hammer and dolly on the unpainted rear panel, I am pretty pleased with how it looks.

See you Thursday.

Apologies for the delay in tonight's video.

Our technology provider has been FUBAR all day and new videos (like tonight's episode) are not playing back for us and many other sites.

They are telling me the repairs will likely be completed tomorrow.

Please accept my apologies for the delay!

OD!

Murph is in OD.

I am generally pleased although there are some areas of the floor that make me cringe.

Let's chalk the feeling up to my OCD.

Murph is going to look and drive great once everything gets bolted together, but there are a couple of tub areas that may need a little more love - a few deep pits, and maybe a swipe or two with the hammer and the dolly.

Finding the line between being totally obsessive and doing great work is a difficult balance, but at this point in the game, another couple of hours is nothing and will more be more than made up for with the satisfaction of a job well done.

See you Thursday!

Working hard on Murph's tub.  Fixed a few extra holes on the dash, leaded the rough, pitted floor.....nearing paint!  See ya Thursday.

Turns out that we didn't get Murph's frame as straight as I thought we did.  Mr. Pullup must have been too busy posing!  😂

Check it out.  We partnered with Mr. Archimedes and this was the result.  Full update on Thursday.  See ya then!

Mission:  Wild raspberry picking!

Just about any short trip is more enjoyable in the jeep.  If you lived in my community, you would see my jeep out nearly every day for the 8 or so months of the year where the roads are clear.  Whether it is a quick run to the post office or picking up groceries, taking the jeep makes the trip a fun adventure.

Now, there is one driving adventure that I don't enjoy - and that is breaking down.  There is nothing fun about driving around with that pit in your stomach, wondering what is going to break next.  And that my friends, is why I started this channel and why we do what we do at Portrayal.  I want you to enjoy your vehicle as much as I enjoy the jeep and I hope to provide you with the information/tools and a little inspiration to get everything on your vehicle completely squared away.

See you on Thursday - the shop is calling!

We were down in Georgia over the weekend visiting Mr. Pullup, who is teaching music and songwriting at Camp Southern Ground.  He is working his tail off, but having a great time.

With the East Coast pretty much shut down Sunday due to inclement weather and no prospect of flying home until Tuesday, my bride and I ended up renting a car and driving back to the People's Republic.

Our journey took us past Camp Toccoa.  #respect
